On May 30 and June 1 NIH Aikido Club in Bethesda, MD hosted an AAA Teaching Committee Seminar featuring Southeast Region Director Bill Bunn from Joshinkan Dojo in Cary, NC. In addition to the regulars at NIH, four of Bunn Sensei’s students made the trip from North Carolina to Maryland.
Bunn Sensei gave instruction in building and transitioning from sound aikitaiso to taisabaki to solid aikido techniques. Because most of the NIH students work in health and social sciences, Bunn Sensei’s method of building techniques from aikitaiso meshed well with everyone’s more analytical learning style.
It was a great weekend of training and fellowship and NIH Aikido Club is looking forward to helping Joshinkan Dojo celebrate its twentieth anniversary in August.
